FAQ

Questions people often ask

If your question is not here, please ask — no question is too small.

How do I arrange a first conversation?

Send an enquiry through the contact page, or telephone 07738 059057. Your therapist will arrange a free 15-minute consultation with you personally — there is no online booking system.

What happens in the free 15-minute consultation?

It is a short conversation, at no cost, in person, by telephone or by video. You can describe briefly what you are looking for, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working with your therapist feels right for you.

How long is a session, and how much does it cost?

Individual psychotherapy: 50 minutes, £65 per session. Couples therapy: 60 minutes, £90 per session. Clinical supervision: 50 minutes, £65 per session. Fees are in pounds sterling.

How many sessions will I need?

Counselling and psychotherapy work to their own pace and rhythm, so this varies a great deal. Sessions may be anything from a one-off meeting to a longer-term commitment. It is something you and your therapist decide together as the work goes on.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. Online psychotherapy is available to adults and couples in the UK and internationally. Suitability and availability will be confirmed during the initial enquiry.

Where is the practice?

The consulting room is in York, about ten minutes' drive from York station, and is convenient for the surrounding areas. The precise address is given to you when your first appointment is arranged.

What if I need to cancel?

Please provide at least seven days' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session. The full session fee is payable when fewer than seven days' notice is given.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. All enquiries and sessions are treated confidentially. Your therapist works within the ethical framework of the UK Council for Psychotherapy, and receives regular clinical supervision. Confidentiality and its limits are explained fully at the start of the work.

Still unsure?

Uncertainty is a perfectly good reason to get in touch.
